Create your profile on the official NaTIS portal, select your Driving Licence Testing
Centre and available test slot, then complete the confirmation process. INSPIRE Drive
teaching is a guide. The official portal and your centre are the authority.
01
Register on the official NaTIS portal
Go to
online.natis.gov.za
and create a profile using your own details. Your booking must match
the person who will attend the test.
- South African ID number
- Full name and surname
- Cellphone number
- Email address
- Password
Register as an individual. Use your own identification details, then continue on the official site.
02
Select the service
Choose the booking option that applies to you:
- Learner’s Licence Test — if you are booking to write the learner’s test
- Driving Licence Test — if you already have a learner’s licence and are booking the practical driving test
03
Select your province and Driving Licence Testing Centre
From the dropdown list, choose:
- Province
- Preferred Driving Licence Testing Centre
- Licence code or category
- Available date
- Available time slot
If your preferred centre has no availability, try another nearby
Driving Licence Testing Centre or check again when new slots are released.
Select the province where you want to write, then continue to choose a centre, date, and time.
04
Confirm your pre-booking
Once you select a slot:
- Confirm your personal details
- Submit the booking
- Save, download, or screenshot the booking confirmation
- Record the booking reference number
The online booking is generally a pre-booking. It is not fully secured
until the required confirmation payment is made.
05
Pay the booking fee at the selected centre
For online test bookings, you generally need to visit the Driving Licence
Testing Centre where you made the booking and pay the applicable fee
within the required period.
Government guidance indicates that the booking must be confirmed by payment.
Historical NaTIS guidance mentioned three days. Confirm the current deadline
and fee with the selected centre, as procedures can vary. If payment is not
made in time, the slot may be released.
06
Attend the appointment
Take the required documents, which may include:
- ID document
- Booking confirmation or receipt
- Proof of address
- Required photographs
- Learner’s licence, if booking the practical driving test
- Any other documents requested by the centre
For a learner’s licence test, official government process confirms that
applicants must bring their ID, photographs, proof of address and booking
fee, and complete the relevant application form. Keep your booking receipt
safe — it is your proof of appointment.
